DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, March 11\, the Dallas County Republican Party is hosting a fundraiser at the Omni Hotel in Downtown Dallas at which Donald Trump Jr. and Sen. Ted Cruz will be speaking. We are trying to mobilize our community in an effort to push back not just against these corrupt and wealthy businessmen and politicians but against the violent systems that they represent. We would like this event to serve as a mechanism through which different communities and organizations can come together to peacefully fight for our collective liberation.  \nI’d like to encourage everyone to use public transportation to go to the event if they can. If you’re planning on taking light rail\, I’d suggest arriving at Union Station\, it’s about a 7 minute walk to the Omni Hotel from there.\nIf you’re driving\, there are several lots near the Omni which is located at Lamar and Young. This is a link to Best Parking with the time and date filled out already so you can see lot location and pricing (https://goo.gl/ZBLviS). \nThis will be a peaceful demonstration. There will likely be increased security around the hotel. We should remain on sidewalks and avoid blocking entrances to the hotel. Please do not bring any weapons or firecrackers or anything that could harm other attendees. Trans students in Texas are particularly at risk for active discrimination by local school authorities across the state. Our governor\, lieutenant governor\, and attorney general seek to make such discrimination legal by passing laws that deny safety\, privacy\, and dignity to all transgender Texans in public schools.\nJoin us at 7pm at Belo Garden in response to this attack on the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community! DESCRIPTION:Interested in writing letters to incarcerated trans or gender nonconforming persons\, but need some guidance and encouragement? Want to write but not sure what to say? Or afraid that you might not know how to help someone advocate for their safety or healthcare needs? Or maybe you would rather write while in a social setting\, sharing space with friends and community? Then join us for the Prison Letter Writers Workshop! \nTPI’s Prison Services Committee writes letters to incarcerated trans persons\, but we wanted to provide additional opportunity to support our siblings behind the walls. If you want to learn and try writing someone\, maybe just a one-off letter of support and encouragement without committing to write more\, or see what it is like before committing\, this is a time to do that! \nWe’ll talk a little about our work overall with incarcerated persons and some of the individuals we are connected with. And we’ll do our best to answer any questions you may have. \nIf you are interested in writing a letter or just learning about this work\, stop by around 6pm or later (we close about 9pm) and chat with others and consider writing a letter! \nAlso\, we are considering moving this to Saturday.
