We will send the message that we will not forget those whose lives were violently changed or taken and we will not back down from this fight. \nWe will kick off the vigil with a couple of keynote speakers\, including a representative from both the ACLU and CAIR-DFW.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, March 11\, the Dallas County Republican Party is hosting a fundraiser at the Omni Hotel in Downtown Dallas at which Donald Trump Jr. and Sen. Ted Cruz will be speaking. We are trying to mobilize our community in an effort to push back not just against these corrupt and wealthy businessmen and politicians but against the violent systems that they represent. We would like this event to serve as a mechanism through which different communities and organizations can come together to peacefully fight for our collective liberation.  \nI’d like to encourage everyone to use public transportation to go to the event if they can. If you’re planning on taking light rail\, I’d suggest arriving at Union Station\, it’s about a 7 minute walk to the Omni Hotel from there.\nIf you’re driving\, there are several lots near the Omni which is located at Lamar and Young. This is a link to Best Parking with the time and date filled out already so you can see lot location and pricing (https://goo.gl/ZBLviS). \nThis will be a peaceful demonstration. There will likely be increased security around the hotel. We should remain on sidewalks and avoid blocking entrances to the hotel. Please do not bring any weapons or firecrackers or anything that could harm other attendees. DESCRIPTION:TPI is trying to develop a Housing Services Committee that will improve access to existing shelter facilities and further develop the Dallas Trans Shared Housing Project\, as well as take on other issues addressing discrimination in housing. We have also had a plan for some time to start some sort of assisted housing service when we have sufficient support (funding and volunteers/staff). \nWe are inviting anyone who is interested in this work to come talk with others about where you would like to see the work go\, and how you could contribute.
