Then we’re looking for YOU! \nWHO: Any person concerned about or who will be affected by the Tax Bill.  \nWHAT: Micro-actions across the greater Houston area. Help provided for planning\, messaging\, and locations if you’re available. \nWHEN: Any time between stores opening for Black Friday sales and noon.  \nWHERE: Busiest shopping or event location nearest you. \nWHY: Educate people about the effects of the Tax Bill.  \nCOST: VERY low—items such as poster board or old sheet (or one you’ve thrifted)\, markers\, paint\, or spray paint. You may also text via 281.303.7079 \nIn conjunction with many groups in Houston\, we’re looking for small teams across the greater Houston area to stage their own micro-actions. What’s this mean for you? You can go any time (even very early morning!)\, too\, as long as we get all teams out by noon. Here’s an action that’s finally on YOUR schedule. Will you be Black Friday shopping? You could even volunteer your car windshield for a message on a piece or 2 of poster board while you shop! \nWe’ll help you with messaging\, identifying the public areas you’re able to stand\, and\, in most cases\, you can choose the part of the tax bill that you find most odious. In April\, Trump signed a law giving states the option to deny Title X funding to Planned Parenthood and other health care clinics that provide abortions. \nTrump has emboldened Republican politicians to wage state-level legistlative attakcs on women’s reproductive rights and has also given confidence to right-wing activists that target and harass women who use these clinics.  \nThe contradiction we face is that there is a mass desire to resist but without resistance organizations. DESCRIPTION:Over the past 10 months of the Trump administration\, we’ve seen a barrage of right-wing atrocities and social suffering–from the far-right carnival of hate in Charlottesville\, to the unnatural disasters of Harvey and Irma\, to Trump’s nuclear saber-rattling with North Korea\, to the Trump administration ending DACA protections. \nAt the root of the crimes and outrages of this era are the priorities of a capitalist system controlled by a small elite of the wealthiest and most powerful people. \nThere are struggles for change in many different corners of society\, each with their own histories and dynamics. But waging them most effectively requires an understanding of how they are connected and dependent on each other–and how\, together\, they can contribute to a broader struggle to change the rules of the game for good. \nWe need to build a left-wing resistance that doesn’t let the right go unopposed. We need to protest the reactionaries wherever they appear\, and not go along with the liberal advice to ignore them and they will go away–because they won’t. We need to claim the right of free speech for ourselves to make our opposition heard. \nBut we need something else as well: a left that puts forward a political alternative to the right’s scapegoating and hate. This is the case for joining the struggle for socialism today.
