Connect. Organize. Change.
This is a peer support group that we would like to start, and right now we are looking for persons who could guide a group discussion such as this. Until we find a facilitator, TPI holds space during this time specifically to allow persons who have experienced violence to open up about their survival experience with supportive community.
Violence is defined broadly. It includes not just physical and sexual assaults, but also verbal abuse, discrimination, and harassment. One topic of discussion we will open the floor to this week is the violence of the Texas government in filing anti-trans suits, and how that affects our daily lives.
The purpose is to provide a safe space for trans and gender diverse survivors of violence to talk about their experiences, how they are coping, and learn about other resources that may be available to help them cope.
If you would be interested in helping start this group, and especially if you are both a survivor and have experience working with peer survivors, please feel free to drop by between 6pm and closing to help develop this effort.
