Racist Mass Incarceration and RJ: Slavery By Another Name

January 25, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Want to talk about the history of racist mass incarceration in the United States and the intersections of reproductive justice? The Afiya Center and Texas Equal Access Fund hope you’ll join us to watch Slavery By Another Name and have a discussion about racism, incarceration, and how these experiences intersect with people’s ability to experience true reproductive justice. The event is free. We will meet in the Library of the South Dallas Cultural Center.

About Slavery By Another Name: This film is an adaptation of the book of the same name. It explores the forced labor of imprisoned black men and women, through the convict lease system used by states, local governments, white farmers, and corporations after the American Civil War until World War II in the southern United States.
