Prison Letter Writing Workshop

August 21, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Interested in writing letters to incarcerated trans or gender nonconforming persons, but need some guidance and encouragement? Want to write but not sure what to say? Or afraid that you might not know how to help someone advocate for their safety or healthcare needs? Or maybe you would rather write while in a social setting, sharing space with friends and community? Then join us for the Prison Letter Writers Workshop!

TPI’s Prison Services Committee writes letters to incarcerated trans persons, but we wanted to provide additional opportunity to support our siblings behind the walls. If you want to learn and try writing someone, maybe just a one-off letter of support and encouragement without committing to write more, or see what it is like before committing, this is a time to do that!

We’ll talk a little about our work overall with incarcerated persons and some of the individuals we are connected with. And we’ll do our best to answer any questions you may have.

If you are interested in writing a letter or just learning about this work, stop by around 6pm or later (we close about 9pm) and chat with others and consider writing a letter!

Also, we are considering moving this to Saturday. If you would like to participate and a Saturday meeting would be better or worse for you, let us know whether or not to move the time: nell@tpride.org.
