Fight the Tax Bill: Micro-Actions Across Houston

Do you have 1-2 hours anytime before noon Black Friday? Are you fired up about the current Tax Bill? Wanna do something about it to help educate others about just how bad it is for all Americans? Then we’re looking for YOU!

WHO: Any person concerned about or who will be affected by the Tax Bill.

WHAT: Micro-actions across the greater Houston area. Help provided for planning, messaging, and locations if you’re available.

WHEN: Any time between stores opening for Black Friday sales and noon.

WHERE: Busiest shopping or event location nearest you.

WHY: Educate people about the effects of the Tax Bill.

COST: VERY low—items such as poster board or old sheet (or one you’ve thrifted), markers, paint, or spray paint. Much of it available for less than $1.

In conjunction with many groups in Houston, we’re looking for small teams across the greater Houston area to stage their own micro-actions. What’s this mean for you? Well, grab your partner, your best friend, or a family member, identify the busiest shopping location near you, and spend an hour or two holding a banner or large sign there! You can go any time (even very early morning!), too, as long as we get all teams out by noon. Here’s an action that’s finally on YOUR schedule. Will you be Black Friday shopping? You could even volunteer your car windshield for a message on a piece or 2 of poster board while you shop!

We’ll help you with messaging, identifying the public areas you’re able to stand, and, in most cases, you can choose the part of the tax bill that you find most odious. We can almost certainly find a way to make complementary commentary on your chosen location in regard to the tax bill.
