Denton’s Noche Pa Nosotros – Mixer and Dance Party

A night for me, a night for you, a night for us.

MUEVE and Denton’s International Socialist Organization are hosting a Mixer for organizations and collectives that are involved in organizing and activist work, including artivism, immigrant’s rights, and freeing Palestine, and for folx who have been interested in getting involved in struggles but want to see which organizations or group of folx works best for them. MUEVE and ISO will be hosting a family style potluck, please feel free to bring your secret recipe of mac n cheese or your mom’s recipe of enchiladas.

The second portion of the event will be a dance party, get ready for some reggaeton. Our djs for the night:

This event is towards building a community of resistance, against the grip of capitalism, against just surviving, but of fighting to thrive. A part of that entails we celebrate our queer/trans kin, our immigrant siblings, and reminding people of color that they not only matter, but also that they deserve to live happy and healthy lives. This event will be *safer* through the efforts of everyone present.

We will be asking for $5 donations at the door, we encourage everyone to donate since our organizations are grassroots and we don’t money from big corporations, but of course we will not turn anyone away due to lack of funds.

If you are interested in tabling PLEASE message MUEVE or ISO, we would love to have you with us! We are prioritizing groups of people who are doing work in the community.

The ground rules were taken from PARADISE ISLAND’s Cool Schmool’s Feminist Art show:
• Bring cash + credit for vendors
• Open mic is for music, poems, performance, and to act as a soap box to say what’s on your mind as an act of catharsis in these trying times. Women/poc/queer people are encouraged to go up, as we are all artists here! Please give CW/TWs when needed.
• This is a safer space: that means absolutely NO racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, rapists, abusers, or other forms of oppression allowed! Do NOT bring guns or drugs to the event!
• Do NOT touch people without their consent.
• This is an ALL AGES event and we want to keep it that way. There is a lack of venues already that allow 21 and under peeps, and so this keeps in with the DIY punk ethos of allowing those who are already turned away from society due to age.
• This is BYOB but NO UNDERAGE DRINKING! We’ve put in a lot of time and effort to create this, please be mindful so this event won’t get shut down or the organizer in trouble! We wanna keep doing events like these. ❤
• Don’t get super wasted and be responsible.
• Respect the house! You are in someone’s home, treat it like you would if you were at a loved one’s place. Throw trash away, don’t leave cigarette butts on the ground, etc. use common sense.

If folx are seen breaking these rules, you will risk being kicked out. We’re gonna have a good time y’all.
