CinéWilde has a special Valentine’s for our Fabulous Fans – the 1996 love story “Beautiful Thing”!
Openly gay playwright Jonathan Harvey adapts his play “Beautiful Thing” for the silver screen telling the sweet story of boy meets boy. In a time when Hollywood predominantly depicted queer characters as criminals, dying of AIDS or as quirky sidekicks, “Beautiful Thing” is a breath of fresh air proving some of the earliest scenes of gay love between young people and proof that same-gender love is not just beautiful but indeliby human.
Jamie is bookish but outspoken, Ste is a shy jock — both come from broken homes in the slums of England. Can they build a friendship that blossoms into love, or will their hard-bitten lives keep them apart?
Avoid the lines! Buy your tickets early! Come early before the film, and attend CinéWilde’s Film School to learn why the film is so groundbreaking and how our local LGBT youth organizations are helping Dallas LGBT youth stay beautiful!
And after the film, stay for some beer specials and karaoke — CinéWilde Style — with The Dallas Voice’s Best Karaoke Host of 2012, Robert Olivas and his catalog of over 100,000 songs! You can follow his karaoke capers on his Facebook wall at https://www.facebook.com/robert.olivas
