Join us as we demand that Harris County Judge Ed Emmett work with our congressional delegation to extend the D-SNAP application period and make it available at more locations.
People who need D-SNAP extend well beyond those who had their homes destroyed. In his faulty calculations, Emmett seems to have forgotten that people were unable to work for days or weeks either because their homes, job sites or cars flooded. Missing days of work can have a lasting impact on people who were already barely making it paycheck to paycheck. D-SNAP helps those people feed their families.
Only Emmett can extend the application period and select the sites where people can apply. He has designated today as the last day people can apply in a location that is remote to most people who live in Houston. People have been forced to wait in lines that stretch for miles. One man died of a heart attack during the grueling wait. We’re going to tell him that this is wrong.
